A spectacular and greatly desired but very rare variety of the well-known Indonesian palm. It sports a red to maroon emergent leaf that holds its color for weeks before it fades to a dark, faintly mottled green. The crownshaft and the leaf midribs are also reddish maroon, as opposed to orange in the regular form. Somewhat sensitive to cold, it is best suited to tropical climates. Seeds are pregerminated and will be shipped moist.
